 Rope Race opened in June 1993 as a dedicated indoor climbing centre in Marple, just outside Stockport.
Whether you're an experienced climber or just starting out Rope Race has something for you.
Our centre has a huge range of routes & problems of all grades
and our fantastic new bouldering area 'The Lounge' has amazing shapes, angles and specatular 50º woody.
Our youngest member at the moment is only 4 years old and our oldest is a very activie 82 year old!

We have coaching and lesson packages to suit everyone in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere at very resonable prices.

Our Fat Badger café has a viewing gallery overlooking the main climbing area and serves hot & cold food and drinks, plus our famous 'flapjack'.
So you can chill out and have a cuppa while still watching all the climbing.
The '22' outdoor store is on the 3rd floor at Rope Race and stocks a large range of outdoor clothing, climbing hardwear, climbing boots, books,
DVD's plus mens and ladies surf wear clothing.
Our new archery range is fantastic, so if you just want to 'have a go' or you're an experienced archer and want to use the range give us a ring.
We run indoor and outdoor courses and lessons for all ages and abilities, ranging from beginners courses to SPA recognised qualifications.
Our junior courses and clubs have always been popular especially our 'Geckos' under 18's climbing club which runs three sessions per week.
We are a Primary and Awarding Centre for the National Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme NICAS
We hold our Adventure Activies Licence - AALA enabling us to take anyone under the age of 18 outdoors on climbing activities & lessons
which can be used as part of GCSE courses work.
Our indoor archery range which has been hugely popular not only with the local archery club, but adults and
schools and youth groups who have used it as part of the
Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, outdoor education, or part of enrichment lessons. We also have our own two part indoor archery award scheme,
enabling anyone to start at the very begining and work their way through to become a competent archer.
We run NGB qualifications in climbing & canoeing, first aid courses 3 times a year, navigation courses & charity fund raising events.
